Argentine President Javier Milei has dissolved the Investigation Task Unit (UTI), a body created to probe potential irregularities surrounding the cryptocurrency Libra. The government asserts the unit fulfilled its mandate after forwarding findings to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The decision, formalized in a May 20 decree published in the Official Gazette, was signed by Milei and Justice Minister Mariano Cúneo Libarona. Critics view the abrupt closure with skepticism, suggesting political motivations may overshadow transparency efforts in Argentina’s evolving crypto landscape.
